MISSION

SYF's mission is to work towards sustainable human development through:
• The development of Palestinian human resources
• Institutional building
• Networking and cooperating with International and regional organizations.

Program Overall Objective:

• To support sustainable poverty reduction and youth empowerment in the occupied Palestinian territories by advancing employment and youth advocacy.

Program Specific Objective:

• To increase the capacity and cohesiveness of Palestinian youth networks to advocate for market-driven technical training and improved educational and apprenticeship opportunities in Gaza Strip

Expected Results:

• 100 youth master advocacy, communication, negotiation, and employability skills through the creation and promotion of PYES aimed at employers, educators, youth, parents, and government institutions.

• Formal and non-formal technical and vocational education and training institutions enhance employment opportunities for 2,000 vulnerable Palestinian youth annually through improved market data and increased market responsiveness.

• Subsidized apprenticeships for 100 Palestinian youth provide employment opportunities and demonstrate benefits of technical training vulnerable Palestinians.

Main Activities:

• Implement and analyze labor market demand survey to gather necessary data to create a profile of emerging labor market demands and available skills, and to make recommendations fir technical and vocational curriculum and for an overall PYES.

• Conduct research on youth employment including a review of relevant national policies and programs and Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) survey to assess perspectives of youth, parents, employers, educators, and policymakers on youth training and employment issues.

• Conduct ICT-enabled youth dialogue sessions identifying common employment-creation strategies and connecting Palestinian youth with peers around the world through the Global Citizen Corps web-site.

• Train 200 youth network members in leadership, communication, negotiation, advocacy and employability skills.

• Youth network members practice advocacy skills and promote the PYES with peers, media, private sector and government sectors through online advocacy and local action days.

• Improve curriculum and institutional assets of 10 formal and informal technical and vocational training institutions based on labor market analysis and on-site assessments.

• Conduct career days are held to promote networking for recent graduates, employers, and technical and vocational training institutions based on the PYES.

• Select and place 100 youth in technical and vocational fields for subsidized apprenticeship in private companies in Gaza and West Bank.
